If you are interested in a PhD and if you wish to join a world-leading, trans-national research team through an international dual PhD program with generous scholarship, consider joining the UQ-IITD Academy of Research.

The University of Queensland (UQ), a top 50 global university, and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), an Institute of Eminence have joined forces to create an joint PhD program with generous scholarship support to students.

We are seeking exceptional applicants to join world-leading, cross-continental  research teams as part of the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR). The joint PhD program provides a fantastic opportunity for the most talented students to work closely with world class research groups and benefit from the combined expertise and facilities offered at two world-leading, research-intensive institutions. This prestigious programme provides a full tuition fee scholarship, generous stipend, travel funds and research training grants to the successful applicants.

The joint PhD program has a jointly developed set of guidelines that all students must follow for the duration of their candidature.  Research projects are supported across multiple disciplines.

Students would graduate with a jointly badged PhD from both UQ and IITD. The UQIDAR will oversee the governance of the joint program.  

PhD Pathways

There are two joint PhD pathways to consider:

  • i-student: PhD program commence at IITD, 2nd year of PhD at UQ
  • a-student: PhD program commence at UQ, 2nd year of PhD at IITD

Successful applicants will have a strong academic background  and track record to undertake research projects in multidisciplinary areas.

More projects will be added to this list continuously until the applications commence date.

Students of the UQIDAR would:

  • Gain a joint global qualification from two institutions (UQ and IITD) in 4 years;
  • Receive a generous scholarship;
  • Be in a position to take advantage of world-class facilities and resources and gain exposure to a new research ecosystem, network and environment;
  • Benefit from global expertise via dual supervision between UQ and IITD as well as possible industry input, and
  • On completion, have access to employment opportunities with sponsors of their research project.
